01 · Scope

Information only

This site is a planning aid. It is not legal, safety, navigation, or other professional advice. Fishing rules, closures, maps, trails, weather, tides, water conditions, and access information can change, be delayed, or contain errors.

Always confirm current regulations with the appropriate government authority and assess local conditions before fishing. You are responsible for your licences, equipment, decisions, safety, and compliance with the law.

02 · Responsibility

Use at your own risk and no legal liability

You use this site and any linked information at your own risk. The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without guarantees that its content will be accurate, complete, current, safe, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ambleside Fishing and its operators do not accept legal liability for any loss, injury, damage, fine, missed opportunity, or other consequence arising from your use of—or reliance on—the site.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability, remedy, or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

03 · Data use

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Necessary browser storage records your cookie choice so the site can remember it. Optional analytics and advertising storage stays off unless you allow the relevant category. Analytics and Advertising are independent choices.

Google Analytics 4 is the site’s optional audience-measurement service, using measurement ID G-NQ6822GXQM. The Google tag is not downloaded and no Analytics request is sent until you allow Analytics. If allowed, Google may receive the page visited, referring page, interaction events, browser and device details, and ordinary network information from which an approximate location may be derived. We do not intentionally send Google Analytics names, email addresses, or a site account identifier.

When Analytics is allowed, it may set first-party _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. This site limits those cookies to no more than six months from when they are first set and does not renew that period on each page load. Browser limits may shorten it. Google advertising signals and ad personalization remain disabled in this Analytics integration, even if you separately allow Advertising.

Your consent record is stored only on this device for six months. It contains the notice version, decision time, and your Analytics and Advertising choices; it does not contain your name, email address, IP address, or an advertising identifier. Acceptance and refusal are kept for the same period. This local consent record is separate from information Google may retain after collection.

You can review, change, or withdraw your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing Analytics consent stops future measurement and removes Analytics cookies accessible to this site. Information previously received by Google is handled under the Analytics property’s retention settings and Google’s policies. Optional services remain blocked when no valid choice exists. Third-party services and links

The site may rely on or link to third-party maps, data, websites, products, and services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, content, privacy practices, or terms. Review the third party’s terms before using its service or making a purchase.

Displaying the interactive map sends tile requests directly to OpenStreetMap. Those requests include ordinary network information such as your IP address, browser details, referring page, request time, and requested tiles. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

Loading current weather sends a request directly to Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather service. That request includes ordinary network information such as your IP address, browser details, referring page, and request time. See the Government of Canada privacy notice.

If you allow Analytics, your browser connects to Google’s tag-delivery domain to load the Google tag and to Google Analytics to send measurement data. This optional connection is controlled by the Analytics choice described above. Hosting and security providers may separately process ordinary request logs needed to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the site.

On Cloudflare-hosted production pages, Cloudflare Web Analytics may be added by the hosting platform to measure aggregate traffic and page performance. Cloudflare describes this service as not using cookies, localStorage, or individual visitor fingerprinting. It is separate from the optional Google Analytics choice above. Data credits

Tide predictions are modified from TICON-4 by Michael Hart-Davis, Denise Dettmering, and Florian Seitz (2025), based on the GESLA-4 MEDS record, calculated with Neaps, and licensed under CC BY 4.0. Changes consist of locally calculated predictions for Ambleside, referenced to the source record’s Chart Datum frame. No endorsement is implied. These are not official CHS predictions and are not for navigation.

Dashboard sun times are SunCalc planning estimates. DFO defines sunrise and sunset with NRC-calculated times. “Daylight hours” means one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Check the NRC Sunrise/Sunset Calculator and current Area 28 rules before fishing; leave a few minutes near the cutoff.

Current weather observations, forecasts, and alert status are provided by Environment and Climate Change Canada from its West Vancouver city weather feed under the ECCC Data Server End-use Licence. No endorsement is implied.
